She remembers the small handful of coins they would gather before walking to the supermarket. Her brothers and sisters would choose noodles because they were affordable, fast, and there when they needed them.
Between shifts or after a long day's work, they would huddle together outside and share what they had. It was a moment of closeness. But when the last bite was gone, the hunger often wasn't.
